Building Information Modeling (BIM) is becoming the standard format that many large commercial, institutional, and cultural projects are using. BIM allows these large-scale projects to be efficiently developed from conceptual design to construction documents and through construction administration. BIM is not often used in one off single-family homes; however, Make It Right has implemented BIM due to the advantages it provides with the iterative design process.
With each iteration of a home design, Make It Right analyzes areas where changes can be implemented to save on construction costs and improve sustainability. BIM allows changes to be easily analyzed and accounted for, while providing a way for Make It Right to communicate the design intent with the homeowner and necessary consultants. BIM allows for these changes to be easily implemented per each address and iteration. Allowing rapid changes in doors, windows, wall types, and new materials to be developed and coordinated across all parts of the construction document set.
