Dedicate a Restored Auditorium Chair

Built in 1904 and abandoned and boarded up for more than 13 years, Bancroft School will reopen to provide residents with 50 affordable, LEED Platinum rental units and community amenities, including a beautiful restoration of the historic auditorium. Before the renovation, the auditorium had suffered extensive leaks and damage. Our work over the last year included carefully repairing the detailed plaster ceiling, salvaging the original wooden theater seats, refinishing the hardwood floors on the stage and preserving other historic details. See before and after photos of the auditorium at left.

This beautifully restored theater will be a treasure for the entire community to share. A wide variety of activities are planned for this space – from piano recitals to neighborhood association meetings. A plaque in your name will be added to the back of one of the beautifully restored seats.
