Hi, I live where half the year the sun doesn’t clear my tree line; I have a generator for power but really want to find a quiet sustainable way to refill my pressure tank with water and occasionally turn on a light or two. Is there a feasible way to build a solar tower without being a Rockefeller?Replies
I’m not aware of residential solar towers but here are a few suggestions:
1) cut back the south facing tree line so your roof has better sun exposure
2) install a quiet, vertical axis wind turbine on your roof. There are several residential wind turbines that are designed to operate on a residential roof.
3) install the solar array on a ground mounting system or a pole mount where there is adequate sun exposure. You can then run conduit/wiring underground to your home to feed the residential meter and electric panel.Pierre Moses posted on January 2, 2013
